Pics next time I promise....:)

It was flat, flat, flat at Plymouth beach and it was getting late. The outer beach would be closing to 4WD traffic in 45 mins at 7:00 so that the Piping Plover chicks can safely cross the road in the dark. So we headed to Whitehorse.

Whitehorse is a nice beach with very limited parking...a big neighborhood of cottages though so still plenty of folks on the beach. My wife and I paddled north from the parking lot towards the rocks. Beautiful night, low 80's, blue skies fading into a sunset. Folks floating on rafts, grilling on the beach, fires getting started...smell of burning driftwood. A guy on a guitar playing and singing (very well) some mellow tunes with a few friends joining in on the choruses. Silly good vibe. The place is somewhat famous(infamous?) for it's parties especially 4th of July but it was very mellow the other night.

I've never surfed there...actually never even been there other than for a couple of short downwinder launches. It was interesting taking a close look at the bottom contours. Even though it was flat just to the north there were some tiny waves all along the beach and they were actually ridable (for 15'). There was a bar that formed a small pocket that I could see would work real nice at mid tide.  Google maps shows it breaking in a few spots...next swell of any sort I'll be there. I need to start keeping diaries for both beaches.

so funny- i struggled being a 'south shore' surfer when i lived in the area and dated a Duxbury girl in the early 2000's only occasionally scoring at Egypt, nantasket or Scituate on a good swell- or just wondering how small i could surf on my longboard and still get the stoke.

Now looking back - SUP would have cured soooo much. all the fat pointbreaks- outer reef breaks i only saw via boats etc.

good on ya Stone.... glad surfcraft evolved to take advantage of the waves of he inner cape.

LOL...it is certainly a struggle being a south shore surfer...particularly Plymouth. Though there is the spot to the north that can't be mentioned where there are always waves....:)

Stoney,
Jeff Wright used to live in Manomet and has told me that there can be some beautiful overhead rideable waves there. As you're looking out, that right hand corner has a nice break. Just like Plymouth though, conditions have to line up right
