Leaking board, advice needed

Hi,
Today after paddling i thought I'd check the goretex valve was working ok so I covered it with water and watched for bubbles.    I saw bubbles, but they are coming from where the body of the vent hole assembly meets the top skin of the board! 

No way i can get some resin in there, and I'm wondering what's best.   
 
a) Do I actually need a vent (I live where a hot day is 20c, 25c max), Maybe I just seal it up.
b) Do I dig out the vent body and glass in a new one?

Board is an NSP DC raceboard, and I think I read somewhere the foam in those doesn't take on water?

Any advice greatly appreciated thanks.  (The board does not seem to have gained any weight, )

I had a similar problem but with a vent that had a stripped screw.  I filled it up with epoxy resin, then installed a new aftermarket vent at another location.  Your deal would require prying out the entire vent, filling it up however you want, you are "dingfix", then install a new aftermarket vent.
The aftermarket vent is the one second from the left, very easy to install, drill a hole, and epoxy it in.

Probably best the board has a vent so I'll order one of those then figure out best place for it.

When I removed the old plug it was full of foam debris (!) so I guess the air couldn't escape that way and found a small gap between the vent body and the deck.  Good news is the boards bone dry inside.

Newby question:

Why boards need a valve? if we are not talking about the hollow board, there is no space to "ventilate". the foam is solid, right?   please explain.

Foam isn't "solid". It is pockets of air surrounded by air. That is why it is so light.
