Solstice surf
« on: June 24, 2017, 12:00:13 AM »
I'm 57, 6', 200lbs and a goofyfoot. The camera is in my mouth giving the view of what I see. The board is 10-6x31 and a thin 148l. Edit is chronological.

Nice small summer swell. The next peak over had 30 and up to 50+ surfers but this peak was enjoyable.
When the board disappears from view I've stepped up to the nose, some nice noserides here. The last ride was a vid success showing some pigdog action, in a full squat grabbing the left rail to hang on.

Excellent video. Nice to see someone on a 10'6" x 31" @ 148 liters sup surfing the waves since most sup surfers, from what I can gather, usually use shorter length sups for surfing.

Thanks for sharing your video.

Can't get over the miles of near empty beach where you where!

On the beach at the start vid, as you look out there are two peaks, I paddle out to the one on the right. The one on the left already had thirty surfers busy. Over three hours later 50+. The small numbers with me were due to early tourist season. Soon most everywhere fills in.

Unless your going to hike far from the parking spots, or go in the winter, low crowds are not the story here. Most accessible known breaks are populated.

When I join a crowded lineup, I don't feel comfortable filming. Wanting to surf with lots of space around me and some luck gets me to find some rare overlooked moments at a few in between spots.
That these are the norm is fake news that isn't meant to be implied with my videos.

Mystical waves on a mystical day.  You just need a stone temple and some pagan surf rituals on the beach.

What a nice session.

Okay, now I am having "surfinJ envy"!  :-* (btw- have you ever tried paddle or nose mount)?
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"
