Paddling with Leatherback Turtles
« on: May 24, 2017, 06:20:51 AM »
My friend Jack and I got a treat while paddling in South Carolina last month.
We saw a lot of big turtles in a small area.... here are a few.

Excellent finished product---a lot of work goes in to these videos!
It was a gift to be able to be so close to such an awesome creature.

Last year when I would go for a leisurely flat water paddle, it was always a treat to see wildlife so I can relate.

Thanks for sharing your video.

Wow, quite a few of them.  I thought Maui was one of the few turtle ocean paradises.

Glad they eat jellyfish. Haven't seen any jellies around Santa Cruz for a while, but they were all over a couple of years ago.

WOW! That's alotta leather, Creek! In Costa Rica we almost always see a few Olive Ridly's but have yet to encounter any Leatherback. The leathers are way bigger in size. Nice glassy and clear conditions you had for your "Turtle Tour". Good thing ya had cam with!  8)
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

It was very special to be that close to them!
The one that surfaced under me was huge! The ridges in his back went up my rail with a thump, thump, thump!

The one I was following was napping.... his eyes were closed and he was just hanging there limp till he noticed me. They weren't concerned by my presence at all.
Super stoked it was so glassy!
