I agree with Blane... for me, I think the boards have gone too short.

Just my .02.

Different strokes different folks.

It's all good.

Probably depends what your are into. Personally I was never into longboarding, (my favorite board now is my 6'6" Firewire) so I prefer a tight turn to walking the nose or hanging 10.

That's the wonderful thing about SUP, it will accomodate so many types of surfers.

Hi Scott,

It's hard to argue with a tight cross-step bottom turn; it is obviously working for you.  Great shot  :)

Nice to see the sport branching off and everyone still stoked for the other guy's style.

It seems to me that the first gen of shorter boards went to extremes of width, thickness, low rocker and rail fullness.  It is cool to see this being reapproached now, with a new bend.

Hey, I want to try that Firewire!

Very intrigued by those.

I'm with you, I ride a 5'9" when I'm not SUPing it up.

For soft, rolley Cali waves the bigger boards seems to allow for more enjoyment.

I'm sure if I was in Hawaii more 'd be on smaller boards, and in fact rode 9' 6"s last winter over there.

So, what do you think Mike, you ready for Firewire style parabolic rails on you new little ripper stand-up?

Here's what I know about the fish:

- it's about 8 feet long (don't remember how wide and thick)
- it got no rocker at all
- the guy in the photo shaped it himself and he's a supernice guy
- I've never seen anybody going so fast on the slow mushy waves of Thousand peaks... unreal.

Here are a few more shots of this fish from last night from photographer at Large, Randy Royse

and a sunset for good measure
