Weird that this popped up as a new thread...I'll chime in.

I have no idea why everyone isn't doing mosaics other than convenience. Perfect way to go IMNSHO. I use the NSI diamond material and use the diamonds to determine the mosaic and place them where needed the most.

#1 Best grip by far....nothing else comes close...I don't care what anyone says (they're wrong).... :). You can even customize the grip by arranging the diamonds.

#2 Less expensive....buying sheets and cutting it yourself (easy for mosaics) is cheaper and you use less material overall so it even saves a little weight.

#3 Looks bitchin....I 've never had anyone complement a production pad. I get comments on the mosaics all the time.

It doesn't matter that much whose material you use so long as it doesn't suck water. I like the NSI because of the diamonds and its density. Some of the harder materials can get polished with age and need wax(?) or replacement with a full pad, but its less of a problem with a mosaic.

Guys,

I gotta say RSPro Hexatraction super good traction, light . Componentized and you can install it the best way for YOU>The Hexatraction is the best after market traction system.
We offer ZONER discount so that makes it alot less expensive too

Let me know if I can help

Extreme Windsurfing

I thought I would like hexatraction but tried a friends board in mexico that had it installed and dont want it.  It was starboard 8.6 pocket rocket .  I found It was hard on the knees and thighs.  The rail saver material rubbed my inside thighs raw sitting down waiting for waves .  The hexatraction was super lightweight but punished your knees anytime you were on the the board .  I prefer the a soft deck pad even with the weight penalty .  Perhaps in a wetsuit only environment it would be fine .

but
anyone ever switched out a deck pad on an inflatable?
love my explorer 13.2 but think the pad could be more comfortable...

I'm going to re-bood the old DecK Pad Art thread
Too many for the rack
Some in the shack
Some under decks
Some have straps

My favorite is NSI small diamond to the handle and Hexatraction beyond. Light and sticky in the nose, comfy in the back. I use the diamond pad a tapered chunk of kayak seat foam to make an integrated stomp pad/tail handle. I lightly wax both the hextraction and the pad and sit it in the sun for a few minutes, then wipe off the excess. I wonder if after all this time anyone else has tried this?? Improves the traction without holding dirt and grit. About once a year I get it all off and reapply. Painless.

From now on I try to get all my surfboards without a pad. This is a simple recipe, but it's perfect for me.

Oh, and you kind of need to sand the edges of RSPro. Just a little 400 grit on the upper edge to round it out.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

The best I've ever used is the one that comes with Infinity production boards. I don't know if it is made by On A Mission (usually their custom boards have that pad). It's very light and, most of all, super grippy. I've been riding low volume and narrow boards (first the B-Line 7'11 x 27" with 86 liters and now the Blurr 7'8 x 25.5" with 79.5 liters). During the sessions sometimes I lose stability while standing and the board is in a diagonal position, almosto with only the rail in the water, and I can recover from that because my feet are completly stuck to the board.
