My home break at 5:32 this morning. Perfect glass. Nobody out. All that's missing are the waves.

NICE Weed!

I love seeing your stuff!!!!  I've got a big empty wall in my home office that I need to fill.  Always thought it'd be super cool to have a large framed unpretentious SUP photo of an outing.....a nose ride shot, a cool turn...something.  One day!

Look forward to seeing more!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a keeper Badger. Put the photo on a USB bring it to a copy center they can blow up the photo 11x14 for about $2.50 A camera shop will cost more but they will do a better job.

Thanks WhatsSUP.

I've posted this before, but it's just a great shot. BTW, the lake level is almost back up to the rocks now. We needed this big winter.

Here is a sequence of photos of when Laird got stuck inside at Malibu on huge Hurricane Marie surf a few years back.  I've posted some of these before but left out one a very interesting photo that I will explain below.

I'll probably get the sequence wrong with the photos so here is the story.

Laird caught a large wave at the point and it closed out on him just past first point.  He straightened out and moved down the coast a bit.  He climbed back on his board and tried to paddle out during a set.  He didn't make it out.  He successfully went over a few foam balls but a third wave hit him and he fell while going over the foam.  Something you probably don't see much but hey, he's human.

He was stuck inside approx. 100 yards from the Malibu Pier.  This was a terrible place to be with the macking swell, high tides and fast moving inshore current.  It should be noted I saw Lifeguards rescuing many surfers in this area which is usually placid.

Laird prone paddled in this area taking a full brunt of set waves on his head.  This particular set just kept coming and coming!  He was prone paddling "Full on" not making any headway but not loosing any either.  Then he did something that still astonishes me.

The best photo is the one that's hardest to see near the fence. Laird turned his (looked like 10' sup board) upside down, held onto the rails, and did a "Turtle maneuver" while holding onto his paddle.  If you look closely you can see his black paddle and hands on the rails while he is upside down going under the broken wave.
This was done in pounding shore break. To this day I have never seen a sup surfer ever attempt this.  I've thought about trying this but I'm certain the board would smash me in the face and I would probably loose my paddle?  It worked for him.  He then put his chin down as if to say, "Enough of this" and prone paddled out of that mess with great determination.  Once safely outside he stood up in good form and paddled out the point.  This was also the same day he shot the pier a few times.

To see Laird turtle a board , hold onto paddle, and get out of that nasty shore break...still amazes me!  I gave the story to various sup magazines but probably due to me poor photo skills they weren't interested.  I was very impressed!

Happy Easter!
