Yater Spoon

Ok totally random, but I respect the opinions rendered on this forum  (a lot of the time)

I have had a long standing lust of the Yater Spoon, mostly just from rubbing the rails....may finally pull the trigger, as I know where there's one a sleeping...$$

I understand that this is a sup forum, but would appreciate any rider feedback....the racks on the shed are full, so this buy is maybe a bit selfish, but I figure that I could milk that board for another 20 years

Is it an original, new hand-shaped, or pop out?  Are you buying to ride or hang on a wall and admire?

I always liked the classic lines of the Yater Spoon.  If it's an original in great shape, the value should continue to appreciate, so should be a no brainer.

I can say that back in the 70's I had a Yater in my quiver, and it was the best prone board I ever owned. I was on a road trip passing through Santa Barbara, and Rennie let me take his personal board out of the shop to demo at Rincon. I came back and convinced him to sell it to me. Something magic about that board.

I have a Yater Spoon from before I started SUP surfing.  I still have it on the wall.  Still love it and remember how it surfs so well.  I have it next to my Nuuhiwa.  Both great boards.  If you are still prone surfing, I would say buy it, surf it, and have some fun.
