Let me guess. Windoze.

Hah!  Resolve is available for Mac and PC (and Linux for the paid version).  You want DaVinci Resolve 12.5.4 (not Studio).  https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve

This is one of those things that will shock you.  You can go as deep as you want.  Better yet, have a taste:

Holy shit, that's amazing.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Pono, when I come down to Temecula I'll tell you funny stories about Black Magic who bought Da Vinci and took it from $100k to free on the internet to sell their cameras and gear. Mind blowing to watch that happen. Knew folks who paid $100k and then saw it a year later free. Hard to rent your bay after that one. ;)

Admin, are you guys getting time of day time code on your prores files, or do they just start you at 00:00:00:00? If not, is it a setting? I'm working on an idea for an industrial data collection app and am wondering if these lighter drones have TC.

...and for a lot of the time that it was crazy expensive, it was used for color correction only.  Now, it is a great NLE as well.  They now have an amazing proxy workflow that is much easier than Premiere.  It lets you work on a relatively budget computer with huge RAW or ProRes files seamlessly.

There are no configurable timecode options in the DJI software yet (at least none that I have found).  But...from the DJI sample files (we don't have access to our own ProRes or RAW files yet) it looks like time of day is getting recorded to RAW files.  It looks like it is not getting recorded to ProRes.

Thx for that. If you have it on raw, you can automate it onto the pro res with software.

I used to think that BM would buy Avid but now they've made their own. Good to hear about the proxy workflow. That's always been funky with Premiere.

I'm trying to book a trip out to Pasadena to watch the amateur drone  "street" races in a parking lot there. Also flying some bigger drives with a buddy. It's really a hoot. All R/C devices would be way more popular with some AI to help them fly like drones I think.

There was a lot of effort to automate non-multicopter flying in the open source community, but some of that has dried up. Lots of effort has gone proprietary since most people think delivery drones will be hybrids.

The functionality that already exists in easy-to-implement form is pretty useful. the PixHawk controller is still available even though 3DR is out of the commercial drone biz. Pixhawk was always an open hardware project. 3DR just sold a version with some decent QA. The currently available stuff is cheaper, and the quality is decent.

I have a high-speed flying wing in Maui that I'm building as a pixhawk-contolled fully automated drone with a gimballed camera in the nose. Kind of wish I'd brought it with me to the mainland. the plan was to finish it by now.

I agree, those wings are way more suited for long distance data collection but you know the deal, something has to open the door and then a lot of things are possible. Quads set the market on fire.

My lead developer has been all over 3DR's open source stuff. I'm going to fly a buddy's Solo soon. Fry's is almost giving them away here.

I ordered the Polar Pros version but it is not clear when they are shipping.  Maybe I will try the DJI.

My brother dropped his into the ocean by Maunalua Bay Beach park.   DJI Refresh and scuba gear to the rescue.

The foam floats for the Mavic definitely work...stayed on great...and, did some practice runs in the hot tub...;-)
I'm gonna end up painting them something real bright and doing some water slide decals I have...maybe sealing them first...

Mahalos...{:~)

Oh man, are we going to have to start a thread about sealing drone floats with microballoons vs epoxy only? ;)

Nice video man, it's crazy how well these tiny things shoot now.

Pono and Admin, talked to the guys who make "The Curse Of Oak Island" today. They are using Inspires for all their drone stuff. Crazy when you consider that the whole drone rig is cheaper than any of the other cameras they use. Wild stuff.

Litchi now works fine with inspire 2. What a cool piece of software. Takes the heat of DJI to provide advanced functionality. So far it's been flawless in my testing.

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

The Karma is/was just a hard sell against the Mavic...perhaps they'll come out with a redesigned, Dogma.

I think the Karma ran over the Dogma.
