I just bought a new, carbon fiber paddle for $3 on Amazon.
« on: August 09, 2016, 07:03:28 AM »
I was messing around, looking at paddles on Amazon a couple days ago, and I came across a new "Pure Carbon Fiber" paddle and the asking price was $3.00.  Examined the ad carefully to make sure they were offering a real paddle and it was.  With shipping it was $8.65.  So I bought it.

I don't know if it was a typo, a scam, a worthless piece of garbage, or what, but I bought it mostly out of curiosity.  I'll probably prove the saying "You get what you pay for."  $8.65, who cares?  Fortunately, you are pretty safe with Amazon returns, so not much of a gamble.  It's not expected to arrive for a couple of weeks (probably from China), but I'll report on what sort of thing arrives, when (if) it does.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H6Z66U4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  I noticed that the price is now $185 so that leads me to suspect that it was a typo.  Who knows?

Ever seen this paddle before?

Yep, that's what I expect too.  A fun gamble nonetheless.

Now they have only one for $188.95.

Once, I got a steal on Amazon for some special fins.
The seller was in Japan. However, a few days
later they said they had made a mistake -
didn't have the inventory or something like that
and asked me to cancel my purchase which I did.

Let us know how you like it.

Interesting.  I am expecting a message like that too.  I have very low expectations for this, surely a piece of junk if it ever arrives.

If you actually get it the bag alone will be worth it.

"Superlight Performance: Constructed with Pure Prepreg 3K Carbon Fiber and you'll be turning heads as you paddle past your friends.

I had mentioned in another post, last weekend at one of our local 5 milers a Sponsor, Hornet paddles was demoing $199 100% CF paddles; they felt pretty good.

I don't see how you could go wrong Zoo, at least your Wavestorm will have good company.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on my gamble.  Hopefully, Stoneaxe is right, just the bag is worth more than that.  If it's usable at all, it's worth $3.

Plus, I really do want to "be turning heads as you paddle past your friends."  Can you imagine my pride as I paddle my WaveStorm by people who are watching me with admiration saying, "Look at that bitchin dude with his $3 carbon paddle."  Women will swoon and guys will want to shake my hand.  8)

Good point.  Already got $8.65 worth of jokes and snide comments.  Hoping to get more mileage out of it when, and if, the paddle arrives.

News Flash:  The paddle never arrived.  Who is surprised by that?  LOL not me.  Already got my money back on Amazon.  I will never know what the story was on those paddles, but I'm curious.
