Google made an album of uploaded pics and vids - a pleasant 2 or 3 mile paddle weekend before last. I even manage to stay on my feet in the creek :D

I apologize in advance for stalker-breathing on the vids - mouth-mount for my cellphone - need to go head-mount or chest-mount I think.

Nice place for a weekend paddle. And it looked like you had the place all to yourselves too.

anybody visiting Ak in summer should make a day trip for Wasilla and the Seven Mile Canoe Trail. It's a super easy - especially the way I cut off the 2-mile long lake paddle portion  - but there's a Pizza Hut at the end if you go the entire way (we don't have good restaurants sorry :D ) . There are both kayak and paddle board rentals and it's pretty painless.

Usually no crowds - jetskis are not attracted to the smaller lakes (too small) and often I don't see another kayaker (almost never a Sup).
Often I see eagles, loons, griebe - right now the Red Salmon are in the streams ( they spawn in the lakes).

I have a bit of an addiction to my little ponds - it's my excercise, my place to unwind, it's a half mile from my house :D

As always, suptheCreek - your adventures are my inspiration to share :D

After an nice 2 or 3 hours of cruising there is always a brew-with-a-view at Schwabenhoff nearby

One of the best things about Alaska: the wildlife.  One of the worst things about Alaska: the wildlife that want to eat, trample or gore you.

I would love to take a trip to Alaska, but my wife absolutely does not want to deal with the wildlife she sees in the videos.

She thinks the people in the show "Buying Alaska" are either nuts or crazy.  I think Alaska is astoundingly beautiful and HUGE.  I remind her that Santa Cruz still has coyotes and mountain lions, but she has her ideas.

It's amazing how that lush green landscape will turn into a frozen tundra in a few months. How were the mosquitos? I've heard they can be intense. Very neat video.

I was just camping in the Adirondacks, and this reminded me a little of that landscape. Of course, in terms of civilization, where I was is like downtown Manhattan compared to Alaska.

It's been a dry summer - I never even put on Deet this year! Woot!!! :D Hardly any mosquitos - it's been great.

I've been here most my life - over 45 years - I'm 49. The ONLY time I've seen a brown bear is while at a viewing platform on a salmon-choked river or one time in Denali National Park.

Now - I'm bear-aware - don't keep food in my tent - but when I hunt I hang large chunks of meat nearby.....but have only seen the footprints (not near my tent) . If you don't want to meet a bear you are pretty much not going to.

I love watching "Buying Alaska" - like all the other Alaska shows - pretty over the top. :D  Oh - look for the one about making vodka - "Alaska Proof" - all the overhead shots make it look soooooo wild - It's right on the canoe trail - I paddle by it all the time.
