I want to make this perfectly clear on this. I'm not promoting my brand and model of my sup. I'm trying to make a point and that point is with regards to conventional wisdom which implies, "you have to have a sup usually longer than 10' for flat water paddling". With my 8'11" x 31" sup, I've found this is not the case. But, there are variables involved when using a short sup with regards to paddling a straight line without a lot of side to side nose wag.

With my sup's short length, it's easy for me to paddle a straight line without much side to side nose wag and I can paddle on one side for 7-10 strokes until I start to drift off that straight line and then I have to compensate by switching over to the other side. Sooner or later, a sup will be too short for flat water paddling so it is best to demo a few short surf sups to determine what length is basically too short in conjunction with the width of the sup.

BTW, her sup has a quad + 1 fin configuration and she is using 5 fins  in this video. The link to the video with the woman paddling an 8'11" x 31" sup on flat water is below.
