GPS'ing and tracking training sessions on Strava
« on: August 02, 2016, 09:10:45 AM »
Do any of y'all track your paddle sessions on Strava? I've been using it for a while now and I'm really liking it, especially since some of the other guys in my training group started using it, too, and we can compare our efforts and do animated replays of our races and stuff. Most of us in the group upload our sessions from speedcoach sup 2 gps units, but some upload from garmin watches or other devices. The strava program is pretty good at understanding intervals workouts and automatically giving you summary stats for each interval as well as the overall session.

I'd be interested in seeing other zoner's tracks from races and downwinders for inspiration and to see how I measure up. My own profile on strava is here: https://www.strava.com/athletes/10232274 if anyone wants to "follow" me.

Yep, been using it for years up here in the Gorge. A lot of us are former bike racers, so we've been using it a long time and it was a natural progression to use it for paddling. It's a great way to keep everyone honest about their times too ;)
For what it's worth, I STRAVA'd the California Screamin' roller coaster at California Adventure (Disneyland) and I didn't even make the top ten! I need to go back and try for a PR!

Does Strava have a SUP category? Using Runkeeper for this but have to categorize this as "Rowing"

Yes, strava has a "standup paddleboarding" category.
