For those inquiring minds I sent another message about shipping, below is the email, read from the bottom up:

Hi ken,
We do obtain  8'10 in our stock.

Thank you
Sunova

Hi Ken,

We don't have the 8'10. We run out of stock. If you would like a different kind of Sunova Skate size, please let me know.

Thank you

Hi Yael,

Thanks for getting back to me.  On your websites product page for ordering you list Sunova Skate in sizes 8'2 and 9'2.  The 8'10 or 10' is not a selection.  I'm interested in the 8'10.

Thanks again, Ken

couple things I think are odd is if you want to purchase the Skate the only options are 8'2 and 9'2 in the drop down.  The "official" Sunova site doesn't  list a Skate 10' as a stock size!

This Yael Dauber guy sounds like a moron.

First he says they have the 8'10, then he says they don't have it, then they have it again. Not only that but they have a 10'0 that doesn't even exist.

I foresee a lot of screwed up orders with this bozo. Does "insured" mean you'll get a full refund?

Not to sound xenophobic, but this reads a bit ESL to me.  Well, I guess it does sound a bit xenophobic.

Pulls on tee shirt that reads: "Never start a land war in Asia, and avoid investment opportunities involving Nigerian princes"

It has been very interesting watching this thread play out.

You have been doing a great job of figuring this all out.
I would rather see the answers coming from customers, rather than Sunova or me :)
We would be expected to cry foul... but we didn't

As RAF said, these guys are NOT Sunova, they simply own a few boards, that they have had every right to sell, at any price....

They are not dealers, so they are free to sell them at any price they want.

BUT.....I have to step in here, to respond to the correspondence that Kliss got in which they fraudulently state that they are Sunova. They are NOT.

Again... they bought a few boards.... they have every right to sell them, same as anyone can sell a board they own....
But in the above reply to Ken, they are plainly identifying themselves as SUNOVA.... THAT is a totally different ballgame.

That... is out and out Fraud.  This is where I  cry foul.

I didn't give a rats ass if they sold the few boards they bought, I thought:
"what the heck... more Sunovas in the water and maybe a few folks will save some money....

But now I am pissed.... passing themselves off as Sunova is fraud.
If they were honest and told you the truth, I'd have no problem with any of this.... but they screwed up.

I love the Sunova brand, the company, Tino, Bert... the whole Sunova package!!!
They make amazing boards, have the best price in the business for premium boards.

Sunova is a small business run by Tino, who owns the factory and Bert Burger, one of the worlds best surfboard shapers.
They answer their own phones and deal with customers man to man
Sunova has been a respected Australian brand since 1976

People on the internet, selling a few Sunova's at discount rates, pretending to BE Sunova... is criminal deception, plain and simple.
These online phoney's ????
I say BULLSHIT on their deals.... they have crossed the line into criminality, with that response to Kliss.
They have ZERO connection to Sunova.... they are have made the very bad decision, to pass themselves off as Sunova.
I wouldn't trust anything they say from now on.

Who am I to say any of this?
Good question
I am Sunova Team mascot. Woof!

a word about The REAL Sunova:
Sunova does everything it can to protect a very few top notch dealers.
Tino hand picked the shops on our East Coast Demo tour in December... shops that share the same SUP stoke as we do.
Not usually the biggest shop... but the ones that shared our deep love of this sport.
7 or 8 shops in the US and 7 in Australia, as well as one in Portugal and one in Israel.
All great people... honest people.... trusted retailers that stand behind what they sell... and most importantly.... love what they sell

Tino, Bert and the whole Sunova family....
from the guys in the Sunova factory, building the boards, to the hand picked Sunova retailers
They are all OPEN and doing business as usual.
Selling great boards at a fair price
Backed by dealer service and full factory warranty

You want a Sunova?
Buy it from an honest Sunova Shop....
not from the faceless online criminals trying to tarnish the Sunova name.... because THAT is what they just became in my book.

Righteous out!

You have to wonder what the end game for these impostors is...i.e. did they buy a bunch of stock to copy?

who has proof they even have boards in stock and to sell?  it's easy to cut and paste and make a fraudulent web site these days.

we see it all the time with brands we sell.

The guy's grammar in his responses raised a red flag as well..Sunova USA?  hmmmm

As a fanboy, I must say; I looked.  A 10' Skate is intriguing as hell ..baring the price. In the last couple of years I have been exercising the power of the US$ and bought a few boards offshore. I am two-for-four in the damage department.

Damaged boards require the shipper file a claim and is the beneficiary.  Damaged board #1: As recipient, I could only whine in an email. I was not the shipping company's 'customer'.

Damaged board #2: a Speeed 9-5.  That was a real letdown. I was rightfully, emotionally invested in this board.   I called Jim K ..a week later Speeed 9-5 #2 arrived.  #1 has been ridden by Creek and I gather is in the Sunnova demo fleet somewhere.

Jim

If you get a 10' Skate ..and don't like it (or was crunched) ..let me know.

well, it looks like i'm the guinea pig here, so we'll just have to see what happens and whether what i ordered gets delivered and in what condition.
as far as i know, there aren't any 10' XL Styles to be had at the dealers and i'm told it'd take me two months to get one.  and knowing how these things work (can anyone say soloshot, ha ha?), two months could turn into 3 or more.  and by that time i won't even be on the east coast any more.  so, i had a choice to make.  do i go for this possible good deal and good board now or not get one at all?
as far as fraud goes, i'm not terribly worried, since i called my credit card about it and they said not to worry, they had my back.
in terms of damage, guess i'll just have to see.
i'm not going to get into all the other stuff about them calling themselves sunova.  rick's is the first complaint i've heard about this.  tino knows what's going on.  you'd think if he had a beef, he'd have said something early on.  i wonder why he hasn't.

well done calling your Cc company beforehand..not sure if this Sunova operation take AMEX, but I'd use that card for the buyer's assurance program.

Good luck and thanks for sacrificing for the rest of us....can't wait to hear how everything goes.

What we don't know is why suspect Sunova (SS) has "taken over" Sunova's Facebook page.   Did S not pay SS for service's due and hence SS took over the page?  Short of outright abscondery, that's the only logical explanation I can come up with.  And if SS wasn't meant to be a dealer in some capacity, why did S sell them 30 boards (or whatever the number is), which means to me that S considered SS a dealer at the time of the sale and, no matter what terrible disgusting appalling and dastardly things happened later, the boards are thus covered by S's warranty.  Ipso facto blammo.

anyway: fun discussion!
