NSP 14x23 Flatwater
« on: April 06, 2016, 06:24:51 AM »
I want to demo one of these. Who do I talk to? I'm on the east coast. Willing to travel Newport, RI to Myrtle beach, SC to demo. I'll be at Rincon, PR this weekend, and Carolina Cup in a few weeks.

The NSP website has distributors, but not a list of the reps. I don't really want to have to call each store one by one.

Hey jeepy,

Can't help with finding you one, they are awesome boards if you have good balance.  I do know that our local distributor can't lay his hands on many of them, I think there are only 4 or 5 in the country, at least 2 of those were ordered well in avance.

You might do well to start with the distributors, they should know which shops have been buying them.

Cheers

I talked to the Rep. There aren't any of those boards on the east coast. I think my best bet is trying to catch one of the Pros at Carolina Cup.

The whole board distribution paradigm needs re-engineering. If NSP/Surftech can’t get peeps demo boards then WTF!?

98% of advice here when someone asks about a board is: “try it”.

Let NSP know. The more “pro’ the model the more it merits getting tested before pulling the trigger.

Hi jeepy.... since you will be at the C Cup, you might want to demo the Sunova Faast2, flatwater.
Carolina Paddleboard Company has 2 widths to demo.
Sunova has a 23", but not currently at the shop. I believe they have a 24" or 25", so you can get a feel for it.
Light, strong and affordable.....  Sunova does try hard to make Demos available on the East Coast  :)

Your right yugi.  A lot of our racers are ordering next seasons board before its built so they can get their hands on the small amount that come into the country.  Then they are flicking them at a loss if they don't like them.

I can sympathize with the distributors and shops as well, how many of them can afford to have $10 thousands of demo boards along with the eventual hit on sales value .

Race boards are just too expensive

I really love their boards. Light without any carbon. I think I'd like to try to 14x24 ocean version. I like the wider stance of the nose. I'll look for them at C Cup.

Yeah the fact that shipping them is super expensive and often results in damage doesn't help.

I think Riviera is on to something going to fiberglass race boards.  The extra 2 pounds for the fiberglass in my mind doesn't make that much difference. It's less that 1% of the weight of the board+rider+ gear. Using a derivation commonly used for rowing, that would equate to 0.166% lost is speed. That means over a 100 min race you are looking loosing 10 seconds... not very much. I think I'd rather save $1000 than go 10 seconds faster.
