Was a nice weekend here.

Chiba is a popular place for surfing, with lots of rental places. Did you find good places to start?
That picture is not from Japan, isn't it?

Katsuura (in Chiba, shown here) and Shonan turn on like this or bigger when typhoons go up the coast, about 20 times a year. Some typhoons produce clean triple overhead faces on the outer reefs.

Only one guy was out on a SUP when I was taking photos that day in Katsuura, the rest linked today are short board and long boarders.

There are a few local guys that SUP surf in the local breaks, if you know what you're doing there's usually no problem.

Beginners spots are there too, and a few rental places with more decent boards each year.
SUP is still very much a growing sport in Japan for sure.

Great picture airSUP! I didn't know Chiba was that mountainous. Thanks for sharing info and great photos.
I visited few spots in Shikoku with signs saying "no SUP".

On sept 10/11th was the Japan SUP race in Chigasaki. It got big media coverage this year, sadly not much for the victory of Annabel Anderson and Mo Freitas , Michael Booth but because of allergy and burns caused by tshirts/jersey racers and staff received before the race.

Entry fee was 110$

By Osaka?  There might be a rental nearby.

That pic shows how how typhoon season really fires there.
Katsuura is just south of the long flat Chiba beach, a south facing bay on the headland. Kind of like a reverse of the southbay and PV.

Hi comeu,

I'm in Tajima, Hyogo.  I'm a total noobie. Just started prone surfing and love it. Want to start SUPing as well.  Thanks for the offer, would like to try if you can put up with a rookie.

Thanks
