SUP board suggestion for Ocean paddling in Hawaii

Another vote for the SIC Recon 11'11". I was fortunate enough to have been "loaned" a brand new one to try out. I was looking for a good board to let my kids use and also to catch some small knee high peelers on lake Michigan.  I tried it out for a weekend, even got to take it home for a week. I LOVED it.... so i bought it. Super fun all around board. Glides well, catches waves easily too. Biggest I've had it in was 6' on lake Michigan. I am still learning to SUP surf, but found it very iser friendly and stable while waiting for waves or paddling to another area that is breaking better. I have 2 SIC F14s and a Bullet V2 with A.S.S as well. I love them all, but the Recon is getting the most use now....

There are some good suggestions here.  At Blue Planet we have the 11', 12'6 and 14' SIC Bullets on sale at great prices, as well as the new 12'6 x 28" Blue Planet Bump Surfer, the 14' x 28" Bump Rider and 14' x 30" Bump Rider wide models.  These are all boards that would work well for what you are looking for and it would be best for you to try them all before making a decision.  If you could make it to Oahu to one of our SUP Clinics/ board demos, that would be the easiest way to try these.  Here are the details and upcoming dates for our clinics:

Hi Limulady,
Not sure what part of the Big Island you are on, I'm in Hilo.  Many of the bigger and faster boards are also heavier, unless you are getting a hollow or carbon model.  Some carbon models are still very heavy.  If you need local help in finding a board, PM me, I'd be glad to help you out.
