Bluetooth headphone suggestions
« on: December 02, 2015, 12:56:51 PM »
Looking for suggestions for bluetooth headphones to pair with my iphone for working out and for jogging. I like the over the ear models rather than the ear buds and have a smaller head. Not worried about water proof - thanks for suggestions for any that work for good vaule. I'm still in denial that technolgy works, so this blue tooth music amazes me :)

love my beats studio wireless--they sound great and connect to anything cleanly and easily--and i used to be a skeptic--had many bluetooth devides which tyough to connect always, or at least from time to time--like my 2012 highlander (which i love otherwise), bluetooth in which is complete shit--whether youre using apple or android--i gave up long ago and just plug in the headphone jack for music--dont even bother trying to use hands free phone in the car

Bluetooth is going through a protocol shakeup. It's overdue, and it's been kind of going on for a long time, but it's getting more consistent. the different manufacturers worked around issues and implemented their own modifications. That's why some things connect painlessly, and some are nuts.

I bought a pair of AYL 4.1 phones for 25 bucks and loved them. If I could just find them I'd still love them. They use bluetooth 4.1 which is a very big deal. You'd think a .1 release would be trivial, but this is the first iteration of the next wave of bluetooth. Amazon has them. Not only 4.1 but noise cancelling. Crazy. I'm going to buy a handful and tie them to the reading glasses I can't find.

Thanks Bill - Headed to amazon to give them a try. For $25 worth the risk to see if they will fit my little ears....

Speaking if bluetooth, I got a bluetooth adapter to hook up to my high end, old school stereo set up and now I can use my computer, cell phone, tablet to play music thru my stereo.
This is what I got for 30 bucks, and it works great.

Now you tell me. I just took about $8K worth of stereo system to the dump. No one wanted it.

I currently use the Plantronic Backbeat Fits.  I like them because they stay in place well and so far they've been able to handle my profuse sweating when running/working out.

As far as the bluetooth adapters, I've been leaning toward getting a chromecast audio.  Like the chromecast, it uses wifi instead of bluetooth to stream music from your computer, tablet or phone to a home stereo.

I love plantronics quality, they've always been leading edge on small earphones and microphone systems. Back when I could actually hear anything over 5khz I had a set of plantronic monitors that had four drivers in each earbud. Beautiful sound from relatively primitive analog electronics. But now Yma Sumac goes inaudible halfway through her range. Who is Yma Sumac you say?

PUMP HD Sportbuds.  The lady that recommended them uses them because she runs, rain or shine.
The do not have a mic.

Had them before the Backbeat Fits.  Lasted several months but they eventually succumbed to my sweating.  I liked them though.

Just want to give a Shoutout to PonoBill - I bought the AYL 4.1 headphones off Amazon right before Christmas as I was looking for something wireless to use with my iphone 6 while doing indoor workouts. These have been great, even though I don't have much to compare them to as this is my first bluetooth setup. They synced up very well, stay in my ear while on stairmaster and treadmill and sound is very good for me. Only draw back I would say is cap is a little tough to open when needing to charge, but very minor. Well worth the $25 - thanks Bill!
