hope you guys got some nice waves, cookie--i was around asbury at dawn--didnt have it in me to go that far south--by me the were strong offshore gusts which killed the wave count, but i got a few long OH rights--a treat given my NY haunts are mostly lefts.

word is creek may have the quiver in RI friday. wanna feed the need for the 8"10" speed.

Was soooo stoked to meet you right here in my backyard, Creek . You're AMAZING! As was your first wave...and my last. What a day of waves! I don't think we coulda been any happier...cept for that fin wreck, oh well, collateral damage, shit happens! And that was sooo cool that Kliss and Pabst showed, dedication. And Pabst didn't even demo! He rode his own! I rode the 9'3" Flow to start and then switched up to the 8'10" Speeed...SMOOTH stuff! Thanx to Island Surf and Sail for hosting us. They were very kind after the demo as we drank fresh hot coffee and talked story for quite a while.
I took Creek to a Wawa for breakfast. Told him no trip to NJ is complete w/out a Wawa fillup.

Lucky to have a local shooting vid. Hopefully he'll get a proper edit for us!

BUSTED!

Hey Creek, this is what greeted me over the dunes when I went back to my local in the afternoon!

Wow now that has had to have been the coolest waves of this trip and i am out!!! Damn it. Way to go. The February trip needs to be fixed.
Great shot of the Sunova dudes on the beach.

Don't let Creek repair the fin plugs himself. He needs professional help here....

Unreal how good this stop looked.

Thanx guys.

I hate FCS plugs for this very reason.

Is there any reason they didn't go with Future boxes?

I do believe that this is the 1st finbox damaged on a Sunova......
they are designed to break the fin, not the box.... but this was done in a big shorebreak smackdown, and the fin was pushed IN, so the fin didn't break

and yes.... Bert uses these individual FCS plugs, so the flex is constant though the tail.

LOL! Creek, you wanted to go out w/out even a full! You're a feakin' walrus! AND you wore your old 3/2! Hardcore!
I hate FCS plugs for this very reason.
I will admit I prefer Futures...but I did the same "Pushed In" thing a coupla times on a side bites Future boxes a few yrs ago Once beaching a wave at Point Judith and once on a jetty paddling out. Both times the fins JUST nicked a rock and trashed it.
Kliss- STOKED to see that shot of you! You KILL it backside!
eastbound and northjerseysurfer-woulda been cool if you guys made it! Maybe one day we'll meet! Post a coupla shots of yourselves surfing! Also a shot on land! I wanna see you guys!

 ;D ;DLMAO!!!  ;D ;D

Actually 33rd St in not really my local. But I have hit that break quite a few times over the yrs. My walk up is right up the street from my house a few miles to the north. SOOO regretting not inviting you there for the afternooner. It was a little smaller and the wind was a touch lighter than when it kicked in, but ohhh so perf! Maybe next time, and I DO I hope there is a next time, Creek! Your heart is as big as your surfing skills!  :-*
Pretty sure this was my first wave on the Flow!

Really good meeting everyone, waves were amazing!

I've learned it's so important to demo a board whenever possible.  From all the reviews I was ready to pull the trigger on the 9'5 Speeed but it felt way too big.  I have a 9'2 allwave and a 9'6 Prowave both I find easier to handle than the Speeed.  I wish I would have demoed the 8'10 but the winds picked up big time and it would have been a tough go.

I really feel bad about what happened to the fin, it apparently occurred when I got pummeled in the shore break.  That being said, I do like the pull up handle but I was struggling with my glove on to the pull the handle up in a timely manner and that's when I got hit and couldn't hold the board.  This would be a concern for me since in the coldest of winter I use mitts and would probably really struggle to lift up the handle.

Once again great time and thank you STC!

That sooo happened to my with one of the two boards I used. Can't remember which one off hand. I too got worked in the shore break and had to dodge like 5 waves. Luckily no board damage! That pull handle is a double edged sword!

Jack's edit is up...fine job he did! Guy's an editing machine!

Great zoner session!  Marc - huge props to you and Jack for hosting us at Island Surf & Sail.  It was great seeing Rick again and meeting Ken and Marc.  So glad I took the morning off to drive down to LBI - such a cool place and amazing that we were surfing on our own!  What's the point of having vacation days and not taking advantage of one of the last gorgeous days of the year before we have to start pulling on the thick rubber.  So stoked Jack created a great video edit from the session - actually one of the first times I've seen myself on video surfing!

I've only ridden the Speeed a few times so far since my wife has been hogging surf time on it :P - this was my first time in some decent waves - those channels really work on digging in your bottom turns and gives you a lot more confidence on backside cutbacks.

I made the long drive back up to North Jersey with a huge smile on my face.  Can't wait until next year when I'll be a few minutes away from beach in Long Island!
