Outer Cape - storm update 1-4-18 at 7:30pm

we just started to get a frosting of white.  I'm OK getting out of snow shoveling duties!

We dodged the bullet on snow too. A few inches of wet sloppy stuff. Glad a snow blower came with the new house....made clearing it pretty easy....setting up like concrete now

  Had to come into NEWPORT today and scored little waist high 2nd beach on my winter stick (10'6" Hammer), warm and no wind smooth, just beautie little waves.

rbgar:  Sorry I missed you!  I was making claims over in Middletown....super fun day on the Creek!  Just me and a couple of other guys out where we were......waves were sweet and in the knee to thigh for most part but every once in a while a stomach high sneaker came thru....very fun.

Got to 2nd around 1:30, nobody out, had a hoot. Hopefully kite it tomorrow afternoon and Wed with the SW flow coming in.

And yesterday, (March 1st) was sooooooooooo much nicer than today.  TOTAL chaos today!!!!!!!

Very bummed I couldn't get down south today....head wasn't cooperating enough for a highway drive.

Tried going locally but all local access closed...broken seawalls, roads washed out. looked surfable from a distance but would have been a tough paddle out. Likely more than a bit of debris in the water though....probably for the best.

There were a few SUP's out yesterday  and many surfers up and down the beach.  Some major waves.....most wave catchers were riding over head high waves.....out of my pay grade.  The biggest waves were along the rocks were there were only surfers and most were quite good riding waves easily a couple of feet over head. I had a ring side seat for several hours as we were celebrating my nephews 1st birthday at the Rotunda/Carousel.  One SUP'er had a hell of a time getting out...I watched him for over a half hour getting pummeled. Another SUP'er was rippin it pretty good....couldn't really tell board make other than yellow-is/white and red as best I could tell - waves were breaking waaaaaaaaaay out!

Blowin here still this am out of the NE.....will take the short 5min ride to the beach around lunch and take a look.   

Viewing stand yesterday.....not the skills to handle the bigger surf yet so what better to watch from the comfort of a warm room on the beach-

I took the day off tomorrow. 3' @ 15 seconds with the offshore breeze should be about as good as it ever gets. Well 82 degree air temp and 72 degree water temp would be as good as it gets around here.

unfortunately I was still home today with a screwed up head so can't do tomorrow.....was supposed to be off Wednesday but I'm behind in work as it is.... . I'm hoping to get home early Thursday...current forecast is good local.

Hey RI Zoners!   Figured i post here rather than start a new thread.

Im in RI for work and wanted to try to score a surf Tues AM.  forecast looks good (3-4ft and clean)

I may not have my SUP- (be on a prone board for car space) but still would love to meet up with anyone in the area surfing or SUPing that morning.

Im not tied to any location- I'd be driving down from Boston the night before and dont have much local knowledge outside of surfing Naragansett years ago.
