it's coming, stoney, but not sure how to time this, given 40mph+ winds forecast throughout the swell--big breaks like montauk and pt j called double overhead + for sunday

That's when it pays to know how to windsurf :)

There is a point though when the wind just barf's it all up...somewhere after 30mph...or when the rain stings your eyes

Hatteras last week:
Too many for the rack
Some in the shack
Some under decks
Some have straps

Ps  I think it's "Joaquin"....don't want bad juju
Pss  I got a nice tuckaway wrap last weekend with a similar E wind, but a big wind will screw with most places

I hope the track goes more north. Tail end westerlies with the swell from the NE is what sends the magic waves to Plymouth Beach.

Or even better a curve to the north east.  Let it stay offshore and we can all get some swell.
Happy hunting to all you eastcoasters.

35 to 40 is max fun in the gorge, but it would suck in the ocean. And you don't need rain to want goggles, the spindrift hits you like a hose in the face.

From what I remember its "Nukin" or "White Smoke" to use Gorge old school terminology from 25 years old memory

Wind turned stuff offshore where I was in RI at tonight 5:30. Raced out of the office and paddled out to an empty lineup of bombs. Stiff offshore a made it challenging but I caught several waves including one of the largest I've ever surfed (double overhead +)! Basking in the glow enjoying a post session beer and hoping the winds stay manageable for the am...

That'll keep you buzzing for days... :D

Stoneaxe, ever since I saw Browns break during a blizzard last winter (or could've been 2 winters ago), I've wanted to target it on a big swell....will keep my eye on it this week if we get the wrap. When all the right elements line up that place looks world class.

So damn rare that it happens but amazing when it does. If the forecast holds I might do a DWer Sunday. Launching from Green Harbor and head for Plymouth Beach, grab the edge of browns on the way....going to be HUGE out there with some deep troughs on the outgoing tide.

Wish I could join you in the morning Derek.

I got over to Long Sands beach in York today a little before 5:00 and had my best session ever! Wind was offshore, waves were waist to chest high, with regular head+ sets spaced out enough to make it easy to paddle out between them. The sun even came out under the clouds, and made an incredible sunset over the waves and mist coming off them.

Hopefully we'll get some more days like this before the storm passes, but if not, I'm excited at least to get in a good downwinder.
