Mil-Surf Update
« on: September 12, 2015, 03:02:23 PM »
Hey guys, been a busy year for Mil-Surf adding many great companies and organizations that support the military and it's veterans through surfing sports. Also, I have started to add surf locations that are unique to military access on bases. If you know of any base breaks, military discounts, or military surf events please let me know! I will continue to add them to the site. Thanks for all your support.

Have to say, it took me a while to understand what you are doing. I hadn't looked at it until recently.

Thank you.

(From my limited experience, The Marine Corps seems to occupy all of the best breaks as befitting their role )

Too many for the rack
Some in the shack
Some under decks
Some have straps

Nicely done, there is a nice spot here on the south shore of Boston....Air Force owned.

Take a look in Google maps and you'll see why. Beautiful flatwater paddle spot as well.

I probably should have PMed you or submitted it through the site. I've gotten some grief for sharing "secret" spots.... :P . While that's not really a secret spot its usually wide open with nobody around. A buddy owns one of the houses on the island just to the west. Happy to share it for the purpose though.

Secret my ass. People are still whacked about that. Spend a few minute with Google earth looking at surf spots. the world is mapped. to the inch. Put away your pagers, 1980 is not calling.

I know that but but it doesn't stop folks from complaining.

No worries Mil, though I have had folks say ssshhhhhh about that very spot. Even though every time I've been out there....I'm either alone or its just me and a few friends.  Biggest reason of course is no easy access for surfers. Closest put in with any parking other than the military post and my friends is a mile away in sometimes ripping currents or two miles down coast. Nice paddle on a SUP though. One of my favorite spots to paddle my 14 out to and surf it. Even small waves are long out there. This is from a few years ago. That's the 4th Cliff base in the distance.

The North River (south too) are real nice flatwater paddles as well. My wife and I did the north last weekend.

great pic, what a beautiful place. This is one of the reasons for putting the site together. So many great breaks and launches that the military have access to, just not many people know about them. Thanks for the info!

This pic is from www.911surfreport.com in Jacksonville, FL. Mayport naval base and Hannah state park share the same beach separated by "the poles". Go on the wrong side of the poles and you might get a talking to!

The difference between a popular surf spot and an empty break is: Parking. That's the secret of secret spots.
