SUB's in the pipeline
« on: September 14, 2007, 10:15:29 AM »
Did anyone go to the recent ASR show? Is anyone going to be at Surf Expo this weekend in Florida? There are a lot of shapers out there coming up with all kinds of new stuff everyday and it's going to be an exciting time for equipment both custom and stock. In the stock department I've heard that SurfTech is going to be coming out with ten or more new SUB's for next year and Jimmy Lewis with at least four new designs. Anyone kow any details?

I saw the Aqua Glide SUB pdf from SurfExpo last night. A friend leaked it to me. They have low cost models aimed at bringing piles of newbies in, who otherwise would choke on current prices. They will probably be in rental fleets everywhere too.

Cheaper boards might help keep high end boards from become too expensive. Heck, they already are too expensive.

My first try with photo bucket!

Copied and pasted from the pdf I got my hands on. Don't know anything else about them. Not at Surf Expo myself because, I'm not a dealer.

I see hundreds of these on rentals going after the kayak rental market. It could get crowded out there. More fun than a kayak for me.

Definitely more fun then a kayak but a little sketchy for the masses especially when the wind comes up. We take people out flat water paddling in the harbor where I live and when we cruise by the kayak rental place, people stare in slack jawed amazement

cool info! i really could use this information right now.

i'll be paddling the chicago river tomorrow for the flatwater classic working it out as a promo for kayak chicago. i will be talking to the owners today about the possibility of collaborating on a high school summer sup program. this is why this topic interests me so much...
...the plan is to provide activities and employment for all kinds of people.

it's just a dream right now but a surf school in chicago could be just a winter away!

Interesting!!! What will be the retail price on these. I Like the look of the yellow one? I think there's a huge market for an affordable entry level SUB.

I hear that D. Takayama has 2 Surftech models coming, and there will be a few more laird models as well. This will put the hurt on a lot of independents, they can sell them for so much cheaper. I also hear Aipa will have a sting SUB.

We have a retailer here who does not have the room to stokk a lot og boards, so he will get any surftech, then just adds some on top, makeds them real reasonable.

Next year is going to be REAL interesting.

DW: Is there a website or phone number for Aquaglide?  The bottom of the page you posted is cut off.  I'm looking for a SUP/longboard windsurfer to take to the Caribbean this winter.

http://www.northsports.com/ This distributor handles them. I think they own the Aqua Glide brand name too.
