SUP/SUB Carrying Machines

 MichaelF  Asked a Question,
'' Anyone care to share pictures of your SUP carrying machines?''

 Here is my Carrying Machine
 
2006 Toyota Tundra Crew Cab ,  Adapted a rack system on the bed to carry the SUBs Thought of the over the cab ladder rack but did not like the look.   Works for me.   Any others out there..

Are those boards even attached to the truck....

Just took the pic with the boards atop the racks.. I strap the boards down when I move.

What kinda rack you got back there, I've been pondering on how to fit them into my Tundra?

Landlocked,
 
 I used a Thule bar that was 78 inches long. Cut it down to fit the width of the Tundra bed w/ a little extra on each side not to hang over the side panels. I drilled hole on each side of the bar that lined up with pre drilled holes on the top of the bed frame. Just had to go through the bed  liner. I used Stainless bolt with a wingnut for easy on / off . The Thule bar rests on the bed top across to the other side. Its  set back 16 inches from the cab and the back bar is 1 inch  up from the gate. Add pads and your off. At times I just lay the boards into the bed and off the back tailgate at 30 degree angle.  It works and paddles fit cross wise in the bed..  Strap the oards down and your off. I've been up to Hatteras and down thru Florida with this set up and no worries.    Hope this helps you...

heheheh... needs some flags to give people following in close proximity a little more perspective. motorcyclists could easily be decapitated or vans might catch the nose of the boards and send the fins through your cab. one concern could be the excess stress placed at the boards midpoint or wherever the bars make contact due to the weight of the boards during transit. repeated jarring like that could ding them early on and eventually break a board in two.

not to worry... just keeping the worst case scenario in mind. i remember this one sports car only available in japan. it had a hard top convertible which stowed away in the trunk as a single unit. if the car was ever rear ended, anybody riding in the car would be half the person they used to be.
