Newbie in the midwest
« on: September 17, 2007, 09:41:57 AM »
Hey Guys,

New to the forum and new to SUP. I used to live on the West Coast and moved to the midwest and miss the surf. I think that SUP would be great here on Lake Michigan and I know its a sport that I'm going to love but its been a while... I need help picking up some gear, I'm about 5'11'', about 170 and have no idea where to start. Of course, finding someone out here that has boards or paddles for me to demo is very hard to come by. Any suggestions? Thanks to anybody who can help and I'm very lucky to have found this site!

Hi Midwester,

Welcome to the Zone!

Where are you on Lake Michigan?  It is possible that we have a user near you.  Also, check this recent post by one of our earliest members:

...and you're right. sup is practically perfect for conditions on the great lakes, rivers, and ponds!
