Recommendations of a Good Repair Shop - LA
« on: April 30, 2015, 02:47:47 PM »
Just moved out here, picked up another SUP to surf on, and creased it.

Any recommendations on a good shop to take it to for repair? (I bought it off cragislsit) I'm down in PV, but I guess I'd drive anywhere that you guys say is good.

Thanks.

Buckled boards are a tough one...

May be Molly is up to the task...
Ask Her...and tell her Ralph says Hi !

I usually take those cases to Ding King In Encinitas...

FYI, Adler is the namesake of a Paddling event in Long Beach. Named after the late Steve Adler. You might already know that?

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Thanks for the suggestions, guess I'll give Molly a shout.

I had no idea. My last name is Adler, so and every forum seems to have it available.

Since you are in PV, drop it off with Keoni in Hermosa Beach (310) 798-4200.

Yeah, if you don't care about color matching.  I had his shop repair a ding on my longboard, paid extra to have it color matched, and it was 1000 shades off.  I have had multiple boards repaired by different shops, I KNOW color matching is difficult, but this color matching was a joke--not even on the same side of the rainbow.

Jose at Mangiagli Fiberglass did my last repair.  Around the corner from Keoni.  So far, so good

I've been out of town, but I finally brought the board to Keoni. He looked at me and said, "I hate expoxy, and I hate stand ups..." and then walked me over to Jose. Both seemed to be really nice guys, hopefully the repair is equally good.

LOL. That's pretty much how I ended up at Jose's.  Saw Keoni first, he didn't want to deal with color matching, so he walked me over to Jose.
Post a pic of your repair when you get it back. (mine took 3 wks)

I just got my board back, took about two weeks, which I was out of town for most of.

Thanks for the help on finding a place. He did a good job, even matched the schoolbus yellow nicely.
