20 days to get fit

in 20 days I'm going on 2 week surf trip what is best fast way to get back in surf shape? i would surf more but get home from work and its dark, I've been skate boarding a little and jogging but i  hate running.  i like the bike a little more but its so cold out. i just bought that pusher pole thing to use with skateboard. i do some push ups and sit ups everyday. breath holds and apnea walks everyday.

Any form of cardio that you can do. Not the easy steady state type but the kind that taxes you and gets the heart rate up. If you can get your hand on some dumbells or kettlebells there are a lot of good exercises you can do. Between that and the more intense type of cardio 2 weeks can make a big difference.

If you have a gym available, or have one at home, I would suggest an elliptical machine.  Gives a good, full body workout.  I have one at home and use it when I can't surf.  Do it hard and it will give you a solid workout that will put you in shape.

the posture videos looks good i will try it along with some running and keep skateboarding  i still feel it helps my surfing  a lot. i not really into gyms. id like to get a home machine however.  ill see how it goes if i could lose a few pounds id be in good shape!

In all seriousness though, pending your age, you definitely should plan on 4-5 days of rest before your trip. Considering travel stress and physical demands of surfing your body needs rest.  Going all out before a trip to "get in shape" would most likely detract from your experience. I would take the 20 days to hydrate, change any poor eating habits and do a stretch/yoga program vs tiring out my body.  Then use the trip itself as a catalyst to getting in shape over a longer period of time. Just my .02.

I broke my foot in the fall and had a pretty long recovery.  Balance-board squats helped me get my legs tuned up for SUP pretty quick.  After a week (just 3 workouts) I noticed a huge improvement and was able to surf with only some soreness in my forearms.   I go for reps w/o weights 15-40 per set, this morning about a month into it, I did 4 sets of 40.

20 days isn't a whole lot of time to get in shape but get after it!  I would definitely focus on mobility - 20 minutes every day - and eat paleo.  I've been eating paleo for about a month now and I absolutely can not believe how much more energy I have.  20 days of that will make more of a difference than any kind of exercising you can do in that time period.

SURFnTURF. That is a great resource. Thanks for sharing. I've been looking for something like this that takes 15mins a day.

been running and  bike rideing everyday just did 4 day juice clense.  will do another before i go.

In that short amount of time there really isn't anything you can do exercise wise to "get fit". You are way more likely to hurt yourself or break things down before your trip. I agree with Jeff, if you clean up your diet for 20 days that can make a huge difference in how you feel. Good luck, have fun! Send pics
