14' Starboard Expedition SUP?
« on: February 06, 2015, 11:28:23 AM »
I decided to post this here as well as in the gear section because posts get buried so fast, and some paddlers who frequent the flatwater and touring forum might be interested.

I was just on the Starboard site to see if the specs on the 14' Expedition SUP had been listed yet and it's no longer pictured on the website. The Expedition used to be the first board pictured under the "Exploring" category and it's gone now. The specs were listed as TBA and there was a comment the board was to be released in July. I was looking forward to checking this board out, but this has me wondering if it will be released at all? You can still have a peek on the SB catalogue, but no dice on the website.

Any SB dealers know anything about this? Has the Expedition been shelved?

I may be reading into it too much but for Starboard to take the Expedition off their website makes a guy wonder. It seems pretty innovative bringing more to the table than just your standard tie down inserts, but a cargo area, with an option for a steering system and more inserts than a regular touring board. It might be too specialized for them to include in their line up at this point? Not sure. We'll see what happens. I just wanted to get a chance to paddle one or at least see it in a shop.

On Hold at this moment in time.
Was really hard to have all the wells molded into the production boards - lots of time / effort / material = lots more $$ than anticipated.
Easy Rider is the name of my store in Edmonton, AB, Canada.
My name is Warren Currie . . . and we SUP Surf indoors . . . in a shopping mall!

I dig tourers.  But I might be a little hesitant of being violated by the light if I fell backwards...
