Its a long drive for you but OEX in Point Loma, San Diego has the 7'-2" x 26" JP Slate in stock to demo and will soon have the two bigger Slates there. I'm going to wait until he has all three there before I do a demo. Eric: 619-224-4241

Whats the volume on that 7-6 Mallet? Unless you weigh a ton, the Mallet looks like a HUGE board compared to most of the Tomo's out there.

Anyone know of shops with Tomo styled demos on the West Coast?   I'm in Santa Cruz and already demo'd the 8'0 Door and the blue twin fin (Infinity?) at Covewater

Thanks

Man, it does look RAD.  I'd love to try one of these.

So funny this thread is going on right now! I'm ready for my board as well S5 7'4"x27 3/4 107 ltr. Yellow w carbon tape black rails!  5 fin!

A little clarification- the Simsup x and the 2015 S5 are the same outline and bottom contours- the difference is in the step rail and the funky tail and nose on the X model.
The rocker has been relaxed on both new models compared to the 2014 S5 model and is very much in the vanguard  style, S5 if 5 fin which I dig.
Hope this helps

Here's the SIMSUP [X] for comparison.  Unlike the other SIMSUP models, the S5 and the [X] run a concave right up through the nose (no convex hull).

I think I can sell my wife on one of these new Tomo desks for my office. If I want to go surf, I'll just have to clear my desk first ;)

My first impression was that this design was ugly but after reading your post I suddenly think they're brilliant.  Saw a clip of a much smaller prone version on a Surfer forum and the guy was ripping.

Just got back from OEX point loma.
Paddeled around Eric's demo of the slate/tomo style board..
I am 6'5 190 I have to say that it paddles great, a little under water but I am used to that, it turns real easy and seems to respond nice, I wish I had more time to actually surf it but time is the one thing that does come at a cost for me.  Overall I think it was on the easier side to paddle around considering it was 91 litters, anybody in SD thinking about getting something like this would do themselves a huge favor by checking it out..
By the way Eric was a true class act, great costumer service, not pushy at all, just a real decent fellow.
I am really considering getting one of these boards..

Yes he seemed like a good guy on the phone. Did he say when he will be getting the two bigger Slates?
