Surf News Network was calling the north shore 15-20+ (face), which is too big for me. But I was dying to get out. I haven't been on the water for at least a month because of the new baby, so I decided to try Waikiki. I parked at Fort Derussey, walked out through the park and paddled straight out. It was a nice little break that would occasionally produce a wave that had about a 5 foot face. The water was pretty calm, the wind was mostly offshore but not so bad it gave me problems and it wasn't too crowded. I only had to share with a local kid and 3 old guys, 1 of which was just sitting and chatting. I stayed out of their way and all was good.

The only downer of the day was the local kid that was dropping in on EVERYTHING. He had his headphones on would take whatever wave that he could. He dropped in right in front of me on one wave and I had to pull out or ram him. Maybe I should have. I'd been waiting my turn and he was surfing 3x as many waves as everyone else. But I am trying to be an ambassador for the sport, and I try even harder because I'm not expert. Anyway, I just made sure that I waited for him to clear out of the way and would catch the 2nd or 3rd wave of the set.
