I truly don't think they care.(most manufactures) They are intentionally vague in advertising boards... they don't like to list weights and other critical decision criteria because it's safer to rely on the salesman at the local shop to "sell" the boards.

Now you know what drives me to do reviews... I'm just trying to help the next guy make an informed decision. Sucks when you don't have access to a shop or boards and have to order "on faith" though an internet site.

That is why a good forum is so valuable.

Yes, you're probably right. I've seen that uncaring attitude from a lot of companies for many different products. I don't want to be "sold" a board.

Maybe they don't realize that most people do their prepurchase shopping on the internet nowadays. I would never go to a shop to shop for a board. I go to a shop to look at boards, some of which I may already have an interest in, and that's because the internet has the boards online long before the shops get them in stock.

Often when you walk into a shop and ask for specs on a particular board, the first thing they do is go check the website. The website is where the salespeople get their info. If the website has no info then the salespeople have no info.

I wish the Jimmy Lewis website had better pics and information about the boards. They really need to get on the ball with that. It's very frustrating when researching boards and there is no good info or decent pics to be found anywhere.

Jimmy put some rail-guard tape on my Stun Gun today and I happened to ask him who does his marketing. He said he pretty much does it all himself. He designs, shapes, and picks the graphics for the boards, manages the manufacturing, and I think does the tech-specs. It is pretty much a one-man business as near as I can tell. His head is into making great boards, not marketing. Hence the so-so web site. Side benefit to that is his prices are much less than Naish and others who I am sure have to pay a bunch for marketing and web site work.

I love Jimmy's boards.  the stun gun, cruise control and M14 are just timeless designs and his construction is light and bulletproof.  Really want to try a black and blue.

Yes, the Canada site is the best one, but even that could be better.

If you Google Jimmy Lewis I'm pretty sure all you'll find is distributor sites.

Jimmy had a web site last year but the information on it was old. I had some questions about the M14 and when I used the "contact us" feature I got a reply back from Jimmy himself. We talked quite a bit about the board. I asked him why the site hadn't been updated and he said he was too busy to work on it and was meaning to take it down which he eventually did.

Most of the marketing is done by the distributors. If the distributors want to sell boards they need to improve their websites. That means good descriptions, complete specs and decent pics that show the shape of the boards.

Yup....the distributors are the ones responsible for the websites....he wants to shape boards! If you are on Facebook you'll see he loves shaping the odd custom now and again and posts pics of the board's being made right through the process....awesome shapes and work. He shaped Connor Baxter's gun for Jaws a few weeks back....even though he is a Starboard man....the Baxters are family friends.

Drop him an email and you can chat to the guy himself.....he is good for that.

The guy who sells the boards in the UK has been riding his shapes for a good while and his website is pretty good. Click on the Shop and then each board and he says a bit about each. Would be great to get vids as you say but JL is a bit more old skool....not a big centrally led marketing outfit.

The UK website has some useful info here and there. I liked the write up on thruster vs quad where he used the World Wide as an example.

I've always wondered why manufacturers only give max rider weight when it comes to volume. This leaves the lighter riders wondering whether a board has too much volume or not. Recommended rider weights should be given in a range of minimum to maximum.

I found this Italian site that does this. They are also the only site I've found that has the board weights of the new World Wides. It's hard to say how accurate the info is but if it's true, these will be pretty light boards.

8'1" Rider weight 121lbs to 187lbs, Board weight  16.6lbs.

8'5"  Rider weight 143lbs to 209lbs,  Board weight  17.6lbs.

8'9" Rider weight 165lbs to 231lbs, Board weight 18.7lbs.

If their weight range is correct, the 8'5" should work reasonably well for me at 160+ pounds.

I was considering the 8'1" but it looks a little too short. I'd love to try one.

I was doing a bit of email toing froing with the guy who rides the 8 5. He used to have the 9 2 Stun Gun but moved onto this board. He loves both but would pick the WW he says because it has a little more stability and th ability to swap over fins fro a quad to thruster. He says it is fast, light and very thinned out in the tail.

The newer Stun Guns also have the five fin set up.

That's amazing that the 8'5" would be more stable than the Stun Gun 9'2".

How big are the waves he's been riding with it? Will the World Wide handle head high or bigger just as well as the Stun Gun?

He does overhead pretty regular......I think the Stun Gun will handle the BIG juice better. I guess it is more stable because of the tail shape and more volume towards the  nose. Can't be much in it.

You might want to try this guy for some advice?mdont know him...Hilly.

Thanks CS,

I've been following that Seabreeze thread from the beginning. His last post just answered what I would have asked him. He prefers the 9'2" Stun Gun in bigger waves.

Nice pic of the World Wide.
