2015 Javelin 14 x 26 or 2015 All Star 14 x 25
« on: January 07, 2015, 04:11:49 PM »
I'm a new SUP addict, 6 months.  I seem to have acquired a few boards and I'm looking for one more.  I've been paddling my Amundson 14 TRX a lot and I want to take another step up in performance.   I'm thinking a 2015 Javelin GX 14 x 26  or a 2015 All Star 14 x 25.  My boards travel on a boat so durability counts for something.  I'm paddling in open an sheltered ocean, Bahamas,  Fl keys, and east coast.  5'11"  170 lbs beat up 64 year old with no plans to race.  It seems like these two boards are close to what Im looking for and I'm looking for more input.  This is a great forum.

         thanks

I'm in pretty much the same boat as you.  I even started with a 12.6 TRX.  Others can speak towards your two above choices.  I was leaning towards a Lahui Kai or new Bark Dom D2 14 (I'm 160 lbs).  After many emails and discussions with Gary at PBS I decided on a 14 x 26.25 BlkBox Techbox Uno.  This is the bamboo and carbon (similar to the TRX) production version of their custom board, and supposed to be very stiff, durable and stable.  Delivery in March.

Another board to consider is the King's AC Elite.  I just got one and intend on writing a detailed, positive review when I get a few more sessions on it.  It is an incredibly stable, light and fast board that does well in flats, choppy open ocean and in particular, downwind. You can work directly with Dave Daum to customize shape / specs to your needs and cater the graphics / color to your personal taste. I am a big fan of the Javelin & the Dom, but can't say enough good things about the AC Elite.

I have a 28" GX Javelin, I personally don't think it's robust enough for on and off a boat.
Naish 9'5" Mana
Naish Javelin 14" GX 28"
Naish Nalu 11'

As much as I love my Javelin GX I agree...it is very delicate....
