Angulo Customs, looking good!
« on: January 04, 2015, 06:22:46 PM »
Ed Angulo has been hard at work, he just made 9 boards varying from 7'2" - 10'6"! He has recently moved to FL. and is dialing in what is going to work here on the East Coast. With many years shaping in the Islands he has been refining shapes for a long time. He is a pleasure to work with and I am really stoked how my mini quiver came out! The boards are strong and light. I rode the 7'2" Minion Style today in shoulder high wind slop and had a blast! Can't wait for tomorrow!  :)
I will keep you posted on how they ride!
Board specs:
7'2" x 28 1/4" 105L and 8'2" x 31" 110L
I am weighing in at 175lbs and 55 yrs. young
Aloha,
Fanman

Nice looking boards Fanman.... and great choice on the pad ;D

I am really interested to hear your comp between the two... ride, float, stability and paddling
Traditional vs Tomo... by the same shaper... unique opportunity for a head to head

MD,
Ed is in Sebastian now, one of his son's is close by in Fellsmere and is also a shaper and glasser.

Creek,
Yes, I will keep you posted! I wanted to ride my 8'2" for the days conditions, but I am waiting on a traction pad. The one I had fit perfect on the small board so that one got 1st use. I was surprised how stable it was for such a small board in bumpy conditions!

Brett, nice looking boards, glad you finally got them.  I think you need one of those in SoCal for when you're out here.  Just so happens I have an opening in my rack!  That 7'3 looks very similar to the Hobie that you had out here, did you design it with that board in mind?

Kay,
Yes similar to the Hobie, a little wider tail and straighter lines and a inch narrower!
so far so good! I am hoping I can ride it a lot, except on those really bumpy days!
I think it would work great in Cali  :)

Ah, I've been wondering what happened to Ed, haven't seen him at all this year.

I had a blast yesterday on the mini, shoulder to head high just a little north of the Inlet. Punchy little waves, the board performed great. Easy to get speed and make  sections. I am very happy with the board. Friday looks like it might be good and a little bigger, hope to get the 8'2" out on the maiden voyage  :)

Is the 8'2" a single concave, or a single-to-double?  Any chance you could post a rocker shot?

Sick looking boards!  Ed rocks, met him and Whit a few years ago at surf expo, great guys.  Tomo style board looks super sick. Got one on order w L41, can't wait!

SA,
Both boards have slight double concave through out and to V in the tail.
I'll post a rocker shot tomorrow!
thx

Rocker on 8'2"
The boards also have a milder version of K-Rails and very slight concave decks.

Great.  Thanks.  I'm looking to get something similar shaped in the next few months.  Great to see some different examples.
