I didn't understand that about double concaves regarding how they work on wide boards verses the single on a narrower board, but based on all the boards I've had with concaves, that totally makes sense. I appreciate when shapers chime in with their knowledge so thanks for sharing that dude.

One thing about double concave is that it's the way to go with wide boards or more specifically, wide parts of boards. My cut off point for single concaves is 19" in width. A board wider than 19" would have double concaves in the wide point and as the template narrows go to a single or a double. Too wide with single concave can make a board "sticky" or to "planey" at high speed and make it hard to put on the rail with all that water flowing down the middle.

Tom's boards have  chine rails and double concaves. I've found this to be a really good combo

It allows the water to flow in more of a straight line at entry and allows the rails to keep their curve. The dual concave is also looser than a single and doesn't lock up. This is an extreme amount in TC's boards and he'll probably relax it a bit when he sorts things out.

Thanks. I understand how concaves tunnel the water and straighten the the rocker but whats the point of the unusual amount of V in the nose? I've had V in guns before but this is radical.
