Anybody ever use this HangAir electric, wetsuit dryer hanger?
« on: November 07, 2014, 05:40:48 PM »
Thinking about getting one of these HangAir dryers so I can dry my new wetsuit in my garage out of the sun.  Anybody ever use one?  What do you think?

I guess it might be just as good to put a regular fan blowing on it.

Yep, it works well.  The fan is very quiet, moves just enough air to fill out your suit a bit. Hang your junk and it's dry the next morning.

The added bonus is if you hang it from the showerhead or showercurtain rod, it always freaks out unsuspecting bathroom-goers.

Yup, the key is to get air moving through the suit and the HangAir does that.  The only draw back I see is that there is no provision for boots and gloves.

I've been using the Hangair hanger for a few years now. During the winter I use it in my garage to dry my wetsuits. My 3mm wetsuit will dry completely overnight but my 5mm takes much longer. I try to dry the 5mm outside if it's a sunny (not very often here in Wales!) and then use the hanger Which works better. Using it indoors would definitely help shorten the drying time (I've tried getting away with doing that but the distinctive smell of wetsuit always gives the game away!!).
All in all, worth the money.

Make a hanger out of 1.5" pic pipe, grab a hair dryer. 2 hrs dry time.

Pretty cleaver design.  Do you use low heat, or turn the heat off on that?  I'll bet you are right about the drying time, 2 hours tops.

What's the wattage on the dryer? And does it have a no-heat / cool setting?

I am looking into a new wetsuit at present and am seriously considering the Ripcurl FlashBomb - as they dry very quickly apparently.

Don't know if this is true or not, but I've heard someone say that only the outside layer dries fast; the inside layer dries at the normal rate.  Still a great suit, I'm told.  Never seen or tried one.

you can vary drying heat.  Im in NE so garage gets pretty cold, even high heat sometimes takes 2 hrs.  stuff ankle and wrists w paper towels if i need it faster, over 2 years no suit damage
