I used microballon /epoxy mix as fill coat, sanded it.then 2 Component pu boat paint primer, sand lightly,  then color paint of same boat paint. Used International Perfection.  They make it locally, so easy to find.
I'm going to do epoxy hot coat next build and probably leave it sanded to 600.
