Surfing race boards is a blast as long as you don't expect to do cutbacks. Headmount and I spent a lot of mornings surfing our 17' Bullets, to the occasional irritation of people trying to surf double-over-ankle waves on conventional beginner sufboards. Really anything in the 12+ region is a lot of fun in baby waves, including my challenging-for-me 12'2" Ku Nalu. One of the few boards I'll never sell.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Yes, I find that I often have more fun surfing a 14' race board than on a high-performance short surf SUP, especially in mushy surf.
