That was Great!! he was paddling a Mistral "superlite" sailboard, the same board I began my stand-up surfing on. He was handling it very well. I'm sure he would be smokin it on a 10' Blane Chambers or Bill Foote model...

Very impressive!  I think I would only be able to do that on my knees if at all.  If there are no obstacles (ie. big rocks, tree trunks), it looks like a fun thing to try.

Very cool.  It's just a matter of time until the kayak manufacturers get into it.  If they can make a rotomold kayak for $199 it should be easy to make a standup board.  I'd feel a lot safer with something like that in the rocks than a conventional board or softtop.

...and then you'd be ready to go striding with a little "piece" of mind.

Capobeach...you're right..rotomolded stand up boards are in the works as we speak, but thats OK I guess, think of all the inland waterways, lakes, rivers and streams  that newcomers will flock to but will  never warrant an epoxy surfing type
board. Now guys like Chambers , Parmenter, Ordonez ,Cheateaux and Foote can keep on the cutting edge of ocean going, surfing and racing boards.

That's what I'm talking about.  The surf zone might get too crowded at the main spots but some river runs would be radical or just plain fun depending on the grade.  I'll never forget the year I got into whitewater kayaking in OZ - I'm pretty comfortable in the ocean but talk about getting pinned against a rock wall, tree, etc. -- that stuff is gnarly.  Keep us posted on this new strain of craft.  I need one to go along with a C4 for surfing, a Pacifico for paddling/longboard windsurfing, an F16 channel-crosser, etc., etc.

Looks like a Munoz Softtop...  Love the "stationary" (for lack of a better way to describe it)   wave action near the end.. Thats pretty cool...

That guy is good.      He makes it look so fun!   He probably has a tiny little fin or none at all to clear the rocks.     That board he's riding is very tippy yet he looks like he's got it pretty wired!    I'm very impressed with the ease he has paddling back up into the stationary wave...     This is ground breaking stuf here!    Awesome.

You bet, and this is a small tight river.  I wish I could find the footage of River Kayaking in AK on bigger  rivers with 30 yard long, overhead standing waves but this will show a bit of the potential:
