Man, the conversation on fat/sugar has done a screeching, smokin' 180 in recent years.

Good to know ice cream is health food. That whole article looks like a description of my diet. I guess the choices are OK, it's the quantity I need to work on.

And I wish I'd read this before yesterday's Hop Fest:https://www.yahoo.com/health/the-surprising-link-between-beer-and-your-heart-160601873.html
I would have gone instead of helping my father-in-law repair his fence.

Similarly, there was some recent, mainstream, scathing criticism of the newly-revised federal nutrition guidelines (what used to be the "food pyramid").  It focused on the guidelines' insistence on favoring carbs and demonizing fat, and how the studies that led to those stances were flawed.  It seems like there's huge momentum building in numbers of pro-fat articles coming out.  Eventually the federal guidelines are going to stand out like dinosaurs.  The bad thing is that means after everyone else's thinking has evolved, school lunches will still be low-fat, high-carb, and kids will be being taught that's healthy.

It seems certain unsaturated fats consumed in moderation can be really good for you.  But always check and monitor your blood test results and understand the impact of your triglycerides to HDL ratio.  Generally if you truly feel good -> that is good.

It seems cutting fat -> led to increased consumption of sugar and carbs -> which led to overconsumption in general -> this led to more obesity.  The problem is reversing that once extra fat cells have been added to one's body.  For some the only solution is bariatric surgery.
