Shark repellant
« on: September 10, 2014, 11:42:22 AM »
Found this interesting.   It's still in experimental stages, but it's necremone spray. Essentially, it mimics the scent of dead shark and the sharks are programmed to flee.

The data is not in yet, but early results suggest PB's feet are full of necremones.

The medical term for sweaty feet is hyperhidrosis, while the term for smelly feet is bromhidrosis. Whether booties infused with necremones will smell worse than bronhidrosis is debatable, but it could work..  ;)

It's actually an attractant--it attracts people with money who are scared of sharks.

I think I'll event one that smells like dead people. I can spray it on my car when I drive on the Freeway.
It's not overhead to me!

My jeep in Maui already smells that way. Doesn't help. Well, I've never had anything taken from it even though it's wide open 24/7, so there's that.

I'll never forget the windy day last Winter at Mana Kai/Sorrentos while we were waiting for HM to show and you 'cleaned' out the glove box. There were things no longer living that HAD lived full and meaningful lives in your jeep. And that was just in the glove compartment. The wind blew a lot of 'dust' away. I'm sure that if the military got ahold of that sh*t, it would consider it a weaponized biological agent.

Sheesh--a little mouse nest that had been taken over by spiders which were in turn eaten by centipedes. Nothing to get worked up over, but Gregg did two laps around the parking lot trying to get the blowback off him.

Should have seen what I took out of the air filter last year. An entire mouse colony including six babies. I dumped the babies out into the grass and they were immediately torn apart and carried off  by Mynah birds. Hakunah Matata. Circle of life.

Wayne Enterprises came up with that stuff back in the 60s.

Getting back to SUP and the necremone spray, the issue is how to deploy this rapidly when paddling and you see a shark... oh wait... maybe you could drink the stuff before you went out , and then just pee in the water when you saw a shark...

In the 60's didn't someone manufacture a dye pack for shark repellant?   It was sort of a bright yellow.

Yes, but sadly it was just before the breakout of color TV, and the marketing campaign was a total bust...

I love that idea!  Can invent a battering ram shaped applicator? #605FreewaySucks

Seriously though if it smelled like dead sharks what else would it attract? Seagulls?
