I have seen a couple of these on the Maliko shuttle. Is this a Jerry Lopez design?

Interesting bottom at the nose.
Does it spoon down or is it the rocker profile?
What effect does that nose have?
Designed to dig in?

It is very interesting.. I can only guess that it's like that so it can pearl without boofing or pushing water and the v plus edge will stop the water that gets sucked around on big soft rails causing that sprinkler thing to happen.. and it will also work the other way to help release from the surface of the water after coming back up from pearling.. That big volume in the nose will bring the nose up quicker and v under the nose might also help with keeping things going straight when the nose wants to pull left or right when slow speed surfing a runner.. High speed surfing usually will mean the nose is up higher and you are further back on the board.. There's a whole lot going on with this unusual design than just the nose.. I like it.. and I can see it working.. I'll find out for sure once we get some good wind..  :)

Im just a desktop jockey but, think the basic idea is to create hydrodynamic lift at nose during gliding, hard paddling.  The V surely helps reduce slapping and pushing water. Then the wave piercing nose for going thru chop, keeping your weight forward,  and having reserve volume over waterline to keep it dry and make it pop up in bigger dw waves.
Quite radical change in design.

What I like about it is that it is essentially a full planing hull with real rails all the way up.

Impatient to hear how it works for real.

So far the consensus around here seems to be that the 2014 is better for downwind, the 2015 is better in flatwater. I haven't tried either but there's a LOT of fast 2014 paddlers.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

I've heard mixed reviews so far.  I was talking with Manca, on maui west shore before SUP M2M and she personally likes the pre 2015 LE's better she said "I'm not sure why they did this..." refering to the wider 2015 model. We obviously realize some of the marketing is geared to lure in those who dont normally ride a 24 or 23" wide board, perhaps the wider versions would boost sales of an already $$$$ board?

Another team rider told me the board is super fast! and she loves it. And the pre 2015 is not really better in downwind conditions. I dont think I'll ever have the chance to demo one here. The die hard Naish fans will go out and buy one once it hits the shelves here. Otherwise, most people I know only buy those things used.

At the begining of that vid I was standing with my toes right at the front of the pad (way ahead of the handle) and had the tip of the nose touching the water in an attempt to get maximum water line and lift the tail slightly.. I found that I got a nice little wave off the nose.. No real splashing or boofing.. and no real sprinklering from water sucking around the rail.. Once I moved back to the handle it lifted the nose slightly.. I found when paddling hard v under the nose and the sharp rails would cause the water to squirt out the sides and across the surface.. Still no real splashing like most other round or soft rail boards (like the 2014 Jav and most other brands) but it wasn't as pretty as when I had the nose touching.

Some may find this interesting viewing.. I'd be interested to hear what others think.. and where they find works best on their new Jav's.

It looks like an Orca (2:25)

I don't think I could put all that tape on a shiny new board (I imagine you are using the same setup that you used on your Glide)...
