Board for quartering wind & chop sup concensus?

Hello,
I have started suping last year.
We mostly paddle close to shore (less than two km) and the most common conditions call for quartering against wind and very short period chop/ cross-chop less than two feet high 95% of paddle time with the occasional day and board wake over two feet. After reading as many post on the subject I could find in this forum and the AUS one, the most articulated arguments seem to be toward the following:
1) Under two feet and 15 knots > displacement hull with large fin and soft rails are faster and still very comfortable (archetype is Bark Dominator with Gladiator)
2) Over that > planing hull with hard rails (using weight to dig the rail where needed) and ? fin are faster and very comfortable (archetype is SIC14 Bullet or JL M-14)
3) Somewhere in between both conditions and board design are the round nosed board like the SB All-Star or Ace (I have tried both and personally did not really like either)
I am looking at that not in a racing context but for personal enjoyment of going as fast as possible and making progress with the right tool for the job.
Don't tell my wife but I am also thinking down the line to either adding a board to my 14' SB Pierce Touring (that would be nice) or make an hopefully upgrade (that would be more realistic based on disposable income).
