I need to figure out rudder now. My friend Erik is kayak paddler I dragged into SUP. Hes been in kayaks 30 years! He showed me surfski rudders. I can get one pretty good price, so dont have to make one.
Board is prepared for rudder, so. I will do it and see if its worth the effort. Seen prone tillers too. The 3:1 systems.
Big risk is hitting rock/ beach and breaking whole board.

Kinda like re-inventing the wheel up here...

My unlimited is 17'-10"x 25"x 5.5" thick and  26lbs. The deck is only recessed 1.5" so the water could still drain out the tail. I talked with Corran about the amount of recess vs. gained stability. He felt as a rule of thumb, for every .5" inch of recessed depth, you gain the stability of an extra 1" in width. That would mean my board should feel like a 28" wide board. Some reason my board feels like it's 25" wide.....

BTW, I'm pretty much doing at about 6 mph during a race in that photo. Notice the lack of water turbulence around my board, even during the power stroke phase. That's what a (non-down-winding)  unlimited gives you. Pure glide.
