Anyone ridden a Riviera DOOR?
« on: March 24, 2014, 10:26:55 AM »
Has anyone ridden a Riviera Door?  Ryan Helm won the Sayulita contest on an 8' Door against some hot competition.  Of course, the guy can rip anything.
Lots of foil boards 6’7”-7’4”, L41 TVD’s and Jimmy Lewis Strikers..

I'm wondering if he rode it with fins!?  LOL he has some crazy videos on youtube without.  I saw "The Door" at a local shop and thought it was for yoga.  The main salesman at the shop said its not for yoga and guys surf them.  I haven't seen anyone on one though.

I tried one at last year's BOP. It was a lot of fun, very loose. I almost got a 360 on it--did about 295 before the splash.

Yeah, I didn't ride it but everyone I saw on it was fighting to keep it going straight. Looked fun but crazy.

I have a 7'6" on the way.  Should not be a problem after riding a 6'8" Phoenix V4 all winter.  I will post a review after I get a chance to ride it.

I watched a friend ride one for a few waves. He hated it. Said it turned like poop.
Taller than most, shorter than others.

Which begs the obvious question...

I tried the 7'6" in beach break shoulder high. It felt like a barge, very slow turning compared to my 8'6" I was riding the same day! It might have been fun in slow mushy waves? Or with no fins?
I couldn't get off of it fast enough!
4 waves and done for me!
