Most people sell when they're scared and buy when they are confident, which means selling when it's cheap and buying when it's expensive,  a sure way to ratchet down your savings.

The difference between a correction and a crash, you can hear a crash.

The current market volume (nowhere near the levels seen before, during and after the last big crash) and interesting demographic participation, aptly portrayed in the lucabrasi images, add to the uncertainty.

I think a lot of people are trying to figure out what all the bad news was. It feels like an internet crash to me--all kinds of people saying it was gonna happen, so it did. Whacky world.

I don't believe there will be a new paradigm until human nature changes.

I don't believe there will be a new paradigm until human nature changes.

Which effects the trades that are still human :).

It is pretty interesting that the Fed says only 13% of US households now own stock.  Who do you guess they are?

When you think about who is left in the market...the dynamics and psychology of a crash today would be a lot different than last time when everyone and their goldfish was an investor.

Hi Tom,

It does.  401 K's are extremely static in comparison, though.  I read that only 3% of 401K's bailed during the 2008 meltdown and something like 10% made significant changes to their mix.

Who's in is pretty interesting to the psychology, whatever the real mix may be.
