Here's a link to the stuff I use. Works great. - http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/KeywordSearchCmd?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&Ntk=all&Jnar=0&Ne=1%2B2%2B3%2B13%2B1147708&searchTerm=555-75021

Perfect!  Just bought some on your recommendation.  Only $9 more than the bathtub stuff and $18 cheaper than the SUP shop.  Thanks!
This is good stuff, you are going to like it.  I have it on two of my boards.  Just be sure to watch the video that mrbig was suggesting on the Blue Planet Surf website on installing rail tape.  The water with soap trick is the way to go.

Wouldn't helicopter tape be pretty much the same thing as what I bought?

I may be one of the few guys who has actually measured the effect of tape on your paddle blade. Wait, lets be realistic. I'm the only guy that's stupid enough to waste several days to do that. You'll never see it on my paddles.

I put the car door guard stuff on my paddle blade.  Not sure I'm happy that I did because, like you said, it seems to add weight.

It does more than add weight. I promise you that you grip your paddle tighter because you need to stop wobble. The water coming off the edge is unstable. It might not be enough to actually see from this simple test, but hold the paddle with just your fingertip and pull it through the water. It will probably wobble pretty hard. Takke off the door guard ant try again.

The door guard looks like good stuff but I never considered putting it on the blade.

I thought I'd put some on the lower 1 ft or so of tube above the blade. That's the part of the paddle that hits the board the most and causes black marks along the rail.

I'm surprised paddles don't come with it the way they mark up our boards so much.

I installed the paddle guard from SurfCo to protect my feet more than to protect the board when surfing.  On more than one occasions I've had struck the toes or the top of the front foot when switching the paddle side to side.  It does not occur every session but it did occurred and without the blade guard I'd have been cut by the blade.

Just took the door guard off of my paddle blade and found a place where the paddle was broken!  Looks like the door guard didn't do much for protecting the blade.  I can't imagine what happened but I did loan the paddle to someone a couple of times.  This same person put a ding in one of my boards, so I have a likely culprit for the break in the paddle.
