Well I prefer smart to soft but it all gets a bit blurry!!

Love that steamer, 2mm unsealed keeps the cold wind off and the water is still only 63 degrees right now ;D

Quite a banana - good for decent waves.

As much as I want/need/drool over these new Hokua "Wide Rides", I just can't justify spending thousands on a board. Kinda why I scored this Vibe used on Craig's for 700!

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Thanx for checking out my vid, 55NSup, Monie, andsupthecreek (and thanx for the welcome, creek). Crowds? Alot of the smaller days here in the NJ winter are empty.  8) Hope you get some "Smooth Seas" to SUP surf on, 55NSup.
Nice seeing some Vibe action.Just got my Vibe a couple months ago but haven't been on the water much.
I most likely will have more video of The Vibe in some more sizeable surf. You won't struggle on it going from a 10'er. It'll prob work well if you're under 200 lbs.

They don't look "too thick" at all...nice volume distribution...but, Yikes!...my first impression is that it looks like banana (push water) rocker was used from looking at the profile pics...;-)

Dunno why this is news, actually...we've been designing and building low aspect ratio, higher volume, quad+1, high performance standup boards for surf competent bigger guys, for 6-7 years now...

It would be bigger news if they offered them in anything other than yellow...;-)
Anyone know pricing...are they gonna be $2800ish?

News because Naish Hokua shapes dominate high level surf sup (the sea of yellow boards on the beach at the sunset pro the past few years makes that pretty clear) and they haven't,  for the most part, compromised the line to make it accessible to older/heavier/less competent riders...  32" is a compromise and I doubt you'll see pro level riders using these much... but it opens the Hokua line to a lot of guys...

Based on what I hear the regular LE models are about $2K here in HI, the 32" are probably about the same...

Like the guy ^^ said, Craigslist.

what wonders me is how anyone can spend that much money on a Naish board when you can get a custom from a local shaper , much cheaper.

You can do that, but too often it's from shapers who don't actually SUP themselves, so the shapes tend to suck for SUP.

Having said that, the day will come when SUP reaches a point where it is widely available from shapers who do actually SUP. Then it will become harder to demand premium prices for boards from Asia.

Amen to that... I have a bunch of professional shaping friends, who are shaping racing and surfing SUP's and do neither themselves. Some of it they just don't get!

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

This is totally true. Before I started SUSing I had all these bright ideas how I was gonna shape these things. Once I started and then started shaping them 9 months later, my perspective on the designs totally changed. The boards I shape are very different than my original thoughts. I've ridden some boards by some non SUSing shapers and 1 worked well and the other 3 were complete dogs and I mean really bad boards.
Boards:

8-10 x 31 Egg
8-11 X 32 Double wing Fangtail Tom Whitaker
8-6 X 30 1\2  Inbetweener Tom Whitaker
8-4 x 30 Hyper quad Tom Whitaker (wife's now)
8-4 X 31 1\4.  Round (wide) Diamond Tail Quad Tom Whitaker
9-4 X 30 1\2. Swallow Stinger Quad Tom Whitaker (ex wifes now)
10-0 Brusurf for teach

That is some pretty small surf. Nice and glassy though at least. I finally had my new/used Vibe out in some challenging conditions. Coupla made waves/couple not! it's a facebook vid so not sure if you'll be able to view.
