Change your lifestyle, buy a RI surf shop!
« on: October 17, 2013, 01:40:22 AM »
Yes, you wealthy retirees and otherwise well-offs, now comes a great opportunity to a/ help a fellow SUPer out and b/ own your very own surf shop in Matunuck, RI!!!!
The shop is the Matunuck Surf Shop, which stocks Naish, Starboard, Coreban, Focus, etc.  And the owner, Bob, both wants to sell and kind of needs to sell.  Two weeks ago, out of nowhere, his wife was diagnosed with a Leukemia-like disease, with chemo treatments being the first-line response, and he's got to spend as much time as he can with her.  As a consequence, he's not at the shop much anymore; plus, his heart just isn't in it at this time.  Very sad, all the way around.  And though I have no doubt that Bob's wife will pull through pretty as you please, I'm not so sure about the surf shop ...
So, somebody, come and buy it.  Bob has told me he'll give any interested party a great deal.  Drop me a PM if you're interested or leave a message for Bob at (401) 783-2566.
   Thanks!

That really sucks, I really enjoyed meeting Bob two years ago when we took my Mom to Newport for a few days. Nice shop, nice location, especially with that great Oyster company and restaurant so close. I had a fantastic lunch there.

Bob is Definetly a great guy and an advocate of SUP, I have 2 of my 5 boards from his shop.

Might be time for a career change for me...this sounds like a great opportunity !!

Let me just add that if you don't have the coin to buy the shop, even at a great price, then you might consider one of Bob's SUPs.  Due to the various issues swirling around him, he's seriously thinning his inventory and I think he's in the mood to deal.  Just don't insult him, and do tell him you're from the Zone, and I bet you'll get a pretty great price.  He's a reasonable guy ... most of the time!

In this situation with the right Reps and Companies he may be able to sell back his product and have it redistributed to other Dealers.

Either way, having been in a similar situation, I feel for him and send my best wishes and prayers..

I was hanging out with Bob (a Zoner, by the way) on Sunday... old school shop where us ner' do well surfers hang out apres' surf and lie about our great rides. Fun group of SUPrs milling around. Very friendly bunch.

He does have some nice SUPs in there... go get em!

Bob has helped me out a number of times... instant broken paddle repair etc.... all around good guy.

I lived behind Bob's shop (in a house but literally right behind it) for 6 years before I just moved to the west coast.  While we've had our differences in the past, I don't wish this situation on anybody.  Sorry to hear this news.

The last longboard I bought before getting into this whole standing thing was from Bob and I still have it.  One of the reasons I got into stand up years ago was sitting in the lineup, waiting for waves, watching Bob and a few other guys paddle around and then catch anything that came their way, from shin bangers to hurricane swells.  If I was still in Matunuck, I would be seriously considering a way to make this work.

PDLSFR - DO IT!  I know a SUP touring/lesson company that you could partner with to run operations from  ;)
