Revolt Summer Surf Series - This Saturday, October 5 - Crystal Pier

October 2, 2013 - San Diego, CA - Hoven Vision has joined the Revolt Summer Surf Series as an official sponsor for the FINAL RSSS event of 2013 this Saturday, October 5. HOVEN is a designer, manufacturer and marketer of high-performance sunglasses based in Southern California.

The event takes place on the South Side of Crystal Pier and runs alongside the Pacific Beach Fest. The RSSS is a signature sporting event of the annual event & attracts an estimated 75,000 people. Well over 100 elite surfers from around the globe, will gather on the south side of Crystal Pier to compete in this unique event. The 2013 RSSS includes the Smith Optics Grudge Match Pro Am, Women's, Juniors & Grom's divisions - Men's, Women's & Junior's Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Surf divisions. The Smith Optics Grudge Match format, used with this year's Pro Am, actually allows the athletes to call out their opponents and surf against them thru out the day. Surfing against your best friend or arch rival makes for exciting competition and interesting strategy.

The south side of Crystal Pier is normally a SWIM ONLY zone and is off limits to surfing year round. San Diego Parks & Rec. allows only one permit a year for surfing the classic beach - October 5th. Historically the event presents the athletes with a fun wave and a large crowd of spectators during BeachFest. The forecast is calling for waist to head high waves and 85 degree beach weather, this event is shaping up to be an epic wrap up to an incredible season of surfing competition. The event is open to the public and provides a fun festival environment for the whole family.

Red Bull artist DJ Cheeks is set to perform live from the custom built Red Bull MXT event vehicle. DJ DeVoy will perform live during the Official Afterparty at The Duck Dive later that evening. Red bull has provided professional athlete appearances including Carissa Moore, DJ's like Chris Cutz & G-Roy and more thru out the entire season, this event will be over the top for sure!

The 2013 RSSS season has seen standout performances by Nathan Carvalho, Jonn Noris, Joe Diamond, Doug Van Mierlo, Alexa Dilly, Maya Saulino, Jay Christensen, Tanner Ford, Sean Poynter, Danial Hughes and Chuck Glen, to name just a few.

A total of $2500.00 will be awarded Saturday in the Pro Am and SUP Surf Divisions! Top riders in all divisions received epic, hand made trophies by Troy Rodermel of United 50 as well as the legendary RSSS 'swag bags' overflowing with awesome gear from all our great sponsors.
Season Points Winners will receive Championship trophies and the 2013 RSSS Pro Am Champion will be revealed as well.
