The Big SUP...Big Sur by Stand Up Paddleboard
« on: September 22, 2013, 03:55:19 PM »
We're about to embark on our trip through Big Sur, paddling from Carmel back down the coast to Cayucos. The trip start wednesday October 2, and we are to arrive in Cayucos on Sunday the 5th. Personally I've been wanting to do this trip for years, and I'm really excited to be doing it with such a strong team! The trip is to raise awareness of the value in clean, healthy oceans, and to serve as a reminder of how important adventure, and the natural world, is to our own well being.

You can follow us more on Facebook at www.facebook.com/supbigsur, and if you're at BOP go say hi to the members of the team attending; Nikki Gregg, Mike Simpson, and Mark Olson (look for them at the BIC booth...!)

As with most undertakings this size, I've had a lot of help. Big thanks to the companies who have stepped up to help us realize this dream...Northwest River Supplies, Werner Paddles, CorranSUP, BIC Sport, Art In Surf, Elemental Herbs, Quivers.com, House of Jerky, and more....thank you!

I'd say keep your toes out of the water rounding Point Sur.

And Pfieffer, and Lopez, and Cape San Martin, and Sierra Nevada, and Piedras Blancas....and right out in front of home. We had a good sized whitey clear the water at Montecito's right here in Cayucos yesterday. They're there!

At Fuller's I'll be popping the 8'6" surf shape off of the 12'6" expedition board and catching a few....check out the Infiltrator/S.E.A.L. combo from Corransup.com, that's what I'll be on! ;D[img]https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152251290539128&set=a.10150295667099128.411337.510619127&type=1&theater/img]

I saw one swim by late last Sat pm at 6 th in the fog 100 or so yards outside the surf zone, looked to be good size he or she was heading north.  I decided to call it a day.   Went back Sunday am, the surf had droped, the sun was out and no sign of he or she.  The Ca central coast has a variety of sea live to view and experience.
